Ned's story - The importance of vaccinations

Ned's story is told by Nikki Shaw and Dan Rowe, a couple from Market Harborough who lost their child after he had contracted the flu virus. In 2018/19, England saw 2,924 people admitted to intensive care/high dependency units because of the flu. Ned was one of the 1,692 people who lost their lives to flu in the 2018-19 season.

 

Nikki and Dan have worked with Kettering General Hospital to produce a video called Ned's Story; the couple are supporting the national flu awareness campaign and its key messages.

2019/20 Strains

There are two separate vaccines this year, and you will be given one of the two dependant on your age.

 

The first is the Quadrivalent Vaccine QIV by Sanofi Pasteur and this will protect you against the following:

A/Brisbane (H1N1 like)
A/Kansas   (H3N2 like)

B/Colorado
B/Phuket

 

If you are aged 65 years of age and over, you will receive the FLUAD - aTIV Trivalent Vaccine by Seqirus UK Ltd. and this will protect you against the following:

 

A/Brisbane (H1N1 like)
A/Kansas   (H3N2 like)

B/Colorado
