Overview
The course is aimed at health and social care professionals who wish to develop a greater understanding and expertise in quality improvement and patient safety with strong emphasis on practical application. Each module will offer a flexible mix of taught elements and project-based learning in their practice, further supported by online learning resources.

Entry requirements
Students must be employed within a health and social care related environment and have:
Evidence of achievement of an appropriate healthcare or data related Bachelor’s degree with honours.
OR
Students who do not have a relevant Bachelor’s degree must satisfy the University that by virtue of their professional standing, qualification and/or training that they are fit to register for, and to benefit from, their proposed programme of study.

MSc Quality Improvement and Patient Safety
To be eligible for the award, the student must successfully gain 180 credits from the above list.
Postgraduate Diploma in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety
To be eligible for the award of Postgraduate Diploma, the student must successfully gain 120 credits from the above list but not including OTHM010.
Postgraduate Certificate in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety
To be eligible for the award of Postgraduate Certificate, the student must successfully gain 60 credits from NURM054, NURM055, NUR056.
Assessment Methods
Students will be assessed through presentations, written assignments, case study presentations, oral vivas and portfolios. MSc students will also be required to design, implement and report on an extended Quality Improvement project as part of their dissertation.
