Ami Shukla - Clinical Director Gynaecology

Ami Shukla is a highly experienced consultant gynaecologist and urogynaecologist working at Northampton General Hospital, specialising in pelvic floor dysfunction, vaginal prolapse, urinary incontinence, pelvic pain and urogynaecological problems. She is also Clinical Director of the Gynaecology service.

Chellapah Gnanachandran - Consultant Gynaecologist

Mr Gnanachandran is an expert in gynaecology scanning, laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries. He provides a range of treatments for patients with various gynaecological conditions including pelvic pain (endometriosis, PID adenomyosis, fibroids, ovarian cyst), heavy periods (fibroids, adenomyosis), cervical abnormalities, ovarian/ adnexal masses, and early endometrial or gynaecological related cancers.

He also has expertise in fertility surgeries, laparoscopic reception of endometriosis and laparoscopic hysterectomy.

Clemens Von Widekind - Gynaecology Consultant

Mr Clemens von Widekind is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at Northampton General Hospital who specialises in minimally invasive surgery and deals with complications in pregnancy as well as all gynaecological conditions. These include fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cyst, pelvic pain, hysterectomy and menopause.

Clive Aldrich - Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

Mr Aldrich has been a Consultant within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at Northampton General Hospital since 1999.   He has a wealth of experience in many areas of the specialty and often called upon for his broad knowledge and expertise.   He is also an RCOG tutor, teaching student doctors and is also involved in teaching and training within the Leicester and Oxford Hospitals, where he has held an honorary Consultant post.  Additionally, he has undertaken advanced training in Feto-Maternal medicine in Toronto, London and Oxford.  He has completed several high-level training courses, providing him with excellent skills in a variety of treatments.

Farhad Alexander-Sefre - Gynaecological Oncology Consultant

Mr Alexander-Sefre MB ChB, FRCS(Ed), MRCOG, MD is a fully accredited registered gynaecologist and specialist in gynaecological cancers. He has been trained in general surgery, gynaecology and cancer in London, Glasgow and Germany. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist in London.

He is also fully accredited in performing pelvic ultrasound and management of smear abnormalities. He has made significant contributions to the academic development of his speciality and patient care service development.

Mr Alexander-Sefre has over 20 years experience in individualised and comprehensive management of cancer risk assessment of gynaecological cancers or precancer conditions. He also has wide interest in general women's health, pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, vulval disorders and menopause.

Hafez Alawad - Gynaecological Oncology Consultant

Mr Hafez Alawad, MD, EBCOG is a Gynaecological Oncology Surgeon at Northampton General Hospital. He specialises in advanced laparoscopic surgery (Keyhole surgery) and complex open surgery.  

Jyothi Kambhampati - Consultant Gynaecologist

Mrs Kambhampati has completed MBBS and postgraduate training in Obstetrics ang Gynaecology from India and has been working for NHS since 2005, and at Northampton General Hospital since 2014. She has been a consultant gynaecologist at Northampton General Hospital since 2016.

Samina Elahi - Gynaecology consultant

Samina Elahi is a Consultant in Gynaecology and holds the role of Lead for EPAU (Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit) and Emergency Gynaecology services.

Gill Smith - Nurse Consultant

Mrs Gillian Smith trained at Northampton General Hospital, qualifying as a registered general nurse in 1986 and has had a varied career working in all areas within the gynaecology unit.

Following her appointment as a clinical nurse specialist in June 2001, Gillian achieved both clinical and academic qualifications.  She qualified as a nurse hysteroscopist in 2002 and completed a postgraduate masters course in autonomous practice, achieving a merit award, at Oxford Brookes University and a postgraduate certificate in medical ultrasound scanning.

In 2008 Gillian was appointed as a nurse consultant in gynaecology and works independently in her own outpatient clinics, as well as providing skilled assistance to her medical consultant colleagues.  Gillian is a clinical lead for gynaecology nursing and provides training, education and clinical support.
