Amrita Datta - Clinical Director of Obstetrics and Consultant Obstetrician

Amrita Datta with her qualifications (MBBS, MD, FRCOG) and a special interest in maternal medicine, serves as the Maternal Medicine Lead and also Clinical Director, offering expectant mothers a trusted source of expertise and guidance in their journey to motherhood.

Ilene Machiva - Director of Midwifery

Ilene Machiva is the Director of Midwifery (DoM), ( MSc, BSc, Dip Adult Nursing, CMI Diploma Management).  The director of Midwifery is responsible for delivering high quality women-centred care, midwifery and nursing  strategy and standards, overseeing service delivery, staffing, care improvement, and patient experience in Maternity Services. The DoM is the professional lead for midwifery and maternity practice in the Trust, including representing the Trust in external forums.

Ilene has over 22 years experiences as a registered midwife and is also a qualified general nurse, with experience in working and managing  wide ranging areas of Maternity services. Driven by ensuring equitable services  to all service users, and supporting good outcomes for service users and their families, through a skilled workforce

Clare Flower - Head of Midwifery

Clare trained as a registered nurse, then as a midwife in 1998 at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, working across all areas of maternity, including as a community midwife, a labour ward co-ordinator and a midwifery matron.

In 2019, Clare moved to Luton CCG as the Quality Manager for Patient Safety, then as the Quality Lead for Maternity Services across Bedford, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board and LMNS. Clare joined Northampton as the Head of Midwifery in May 2022.

Ethan Dawson - Directorate Manager of Obstetrics

Ethan Dawson is Directorate manager Obstetrics. After an 8-year career in the Army he worked with private healthcare providers at management level. He joined our team in October 2023 and began working with the team to support improvements within Obstetrics.

Clive Aldrich - Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

Mr Aldrich has been a Consultant within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at Northampton General Hospital since 1999.   He has a wealth of experience in many areas of the specialty and often called upon for his broad knowledge and expertise.   He is also an RCOG tutor, teaching student doctors and is also involved in teaching and training within the Leicester and Oxford Hospitals, where he has held an honorary Consultant post.  Additionally, he has undertaken advanced training in Feto-Maternal medicine in Toronto, London and Oxford.  He has completed several high-level training courses, providing him with excellent skills in a variety of treatments.

Geetha Boregowda - Consultant Obstetrician 

Ms Boregowda is a Consultant Obstetrician with a special interest in High-Risk Pregnancy. She is the Lead for gestational diabetes care and Lead for fetal surveillance in maternity at Northampton General Hospital. 

Owen Cooper - Consultant Obstetrician 

Owen Cooper is a highly experienced Consultant Obstetrician with over two decades of dedicated service in his field. He has been serving in this capacity since August 2003, showcasing his commitment to women's health and childbirth care.

During his career, Owen also held the role of Clinical Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology from January 2014 to January 2018, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and expertise in his domain.

Sara Dexter

Consultant Obstetrician

Sara Dexter has been a consultant obstetrician at NGH since November 2015, having completed her training in obstetrics and gynaecology in London.

She provides antenatal care for a wide range of conditions and is the lead for Perinatal Mental Health. Her additional roles include being lead for Maternity Clinical Effectiveness (guidelines and audit) and is the obstetric lead for the antenatal clinic administration. She is currently Chair of the Trust Consent Committee.

Suchita Lal - Consultant Obstetrician PhD MRCOG 

Ms Lal is a Consultant Obstetrician in High-Risk Pregnancy with interest in Fetal Medicine. She is the Lead for Postnatal care and Digital Health in maternity at Northampton General Hospital.

Sue Lloyd - Consultant Obstetrician

Sue Lloyd was appointed as a Consultant Obstetrician at Northampton General Hospital in September 2009.

She graduated from Leicester Medical School in 1997.  Throughout her training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, she developed interests in the management of labour and medical complications of pregnancy.  She obtained the Diploma in Obstetric Ultrasound, supporting her interest in fetal medicine.  Her roles at Northampton include joint Labour Ward Lead, joint Lead for Diabetes and Pregnancy and Prenatal Screening Lead.

Clemens von Widekind - Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

He covers all aspects of General Gynaecology and especially advanced laparoscopic surgery. In obstetrics his special areas are High Risk and Twin Pregnancies.

Rebecca Daniels - Consultant midwife

Rebecca Daniels serves as the Consultant Midwife at our facility. Her role is dedicated to providing support to women and birthing individuals seeking deliveries outside standard guidelines or those requiring intricate birth planning. Additionally, she takes the lead on educational initiatives and is responsible for the implementation of training programs at NGH.

With over 25 years of experience as a qualified midwife, Rebecca is driven by a profound passion for ensuring safe and personalized care for every individual under her care.

Sam Sibanda - Workforce Matron

Samukeliso Sibanda has been part of the NGH midwifery team for the last 12 years. She is currently the Workforce Matron in maternity and the Race Equality and cultural Heritage Network Chair for NGH.

Gracie Hall - Intrapartum Matron

Gracie Hall currently holds the position of Intrapartum Matron, overseeing Sturtridge Labour Ward, Barrett Birth Centre, Maternity Observation Ward, Maternity Triage, and Balmoral Ward. With a decade of experience in midwifery, she has dedicated eight years of her professional journey to Northampton General Hospital.

Laura Lee - Maternity Inpatient Matron

Laura Lee fulfills the role of Maternity Inpatient Matron, overseeing the operations of Maternity Day Unit (MDU), Antenatal Clinic (ANC), and Robert Watson Ward (postnatal) at NGH. With a decade of dedicated service at the hospital, she channels her passion towards enhancing patient safety and driving service improvements for both the hospital's families and its staff.

Laura Matthews - Community Matron

Laura qualified as a midwife in 2013 and most of her career has been within the community setting.  She has a passion for providing high quality, kind and compassionate care to all of the families she supports in the antenatal period through to their final community discharge. 

She became the Matron for the Community Service, including the Infant Feeding Team in December 2022.  As a team they continue to develop the community hub model of working, encouraging the staff growth in a warm, friendly and supportive environment.

Ola Oluwatayo - Preterm birth matron

Ola holds the following positions at Northampton General Hospital within our Maternity Service: Maternity Matron, Lead Midwife for the Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle (SBLCB), and Midwife Prescriber, specialising in Preterm Birth Prevention.

Emma Perkin - Quality Improvement matron

Emma trained as a midwife at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trus and qualified in 1993, and has worked there ever since. Her current title is Lead midwife for QI, and within this role, she serves as the Matron for Antenatal and Newborn Screening, Immunization Services, Bereavement, Clinical Effectiveness, and Audit.

Babita Williams - Barratt Birth Centre senior midwife

Babita Williams, also known as Bobby, has served as the Midwife Manager for Barratt Birth Centre since 1986. She embarked on her career as a midwife in 1990 and in 2010, she established the award-winning Home Birth Team. Bobby is deeply passionate about facilitating birth and promoting choice within low-risk settings.

Paula Jones - Practice development and training senior midwife

Paula Jones is a dedicated member of the Practice Development Team for Maternity, with responsibilities that include organising and delivering Maternity Specific training in accordance with both national and local guidelines.

Debbie Honey - Labour ward manager and senior midwife

Debbie Honey, with a remarkable 42 years of service at the Trust, began her journey as a midwife at Northampton General Hospital in 1988. Throughout her tenure, she has undertaken numerous roles and held various posts within maternity services. Presently, Debbie serves as the labor ward manager, sharing her role with Cassie Hughes.

Her unwavering passion is directed toward the well-being of staff and teams, as well as the delivery of exceptional care within the Labor Ward Suite. Her primary objective is to ensure women and their families have a positive and memorable birthing experience.

Cassie Hughes - Labour ward manager and senior midwife

Cassie, one of the Labour ward managers, shares her role with Debbie Honey on a part-time basis. The other half of her role is dedicated to serving as a Labour ward coordinator. She became a part of the Northampton Hospital team in 2013, following her qualification as a Midwife. Throughout her tenure, she has primarily worked as a Labour ward Midwife.

Sonia Jabke - Robert Watson Ward Manager & Senior Midwife

Dee Watkinson – Inpatient Matron.

Responsible for inpatient areas including Robert Watson, Balmoral, Antenatal clinic and Maternity Day unit.

Paula Morgan-Clow ‐ Lead professional midwifery advocate (PMA)

Paula provides an invaluable service to our women regarding choice and birth debrief. Also provides support to maternity staff.

Aimee Morris – Patient Engagement and Experience Lead

Aimee provides birth reflections service for patients and obtains service-user feedback to support service improvements. Works closely with the Maternity and Neonatal Voice partnership (MNVP) and local communities to ensure all voices are heard.

Charlotte Clarke – Digital Lead
