Patient and family partners are registered volunteers who are actively involved in ensuring the patients voice is heard at all times within the organisation.
Opportunities for involvement may include;
- Patient Information Reviewer - design and review information intended for patients to ensure it is informative, readable and understandable.
- Patient Stories for learning - collate and share patient stories for the purpose of learning and training of staff.
- Listening Event/Focus Group - attend and support events and focus groups designed to collect feedback or co-design solutions on a particular topic.
- Collecting Feedback - supporting our patients, families and carers to give their feedback in the best way for them.
- Quality Improvement - be part of a project team looking at how to make Quality Improvements within certain areas. Use your own expertise by experience to help inform the direction of the project.
- Committee/Group Member - come share your patient or family perspectives on a variety of committees and groups that review and plan services throughout the hospital.

Current Opportunities:
Hotel Services Focus Group
This group is entirely Patient & Family Partner led and focusses on supporting the hospital with issues around catering & nutrition, car parking and the general environment. This includes undertaking food tasting alongside the catering management as part of a monthly rota, talking to patients about their experience of meal times, and attending a bi-monthly meeting.

Collecting Patient Feedback
We are currently looking for people that would be able to help us to give patients the opportunity to give their feedback on their care within the hospital. This may include;
- handing out postcards and where necessary, supporting patients in completing them.
- telephoning patients to ask them about their experience once they have returned home.
- taking part in collecting feedback for one of surveys, when the need arises.
- supporting patients to share their story for use in training.
- help facilitate focus groups and listening events designed to collect feedback and explore solutions.

Energy & Sustainability
Do you have a keen interest in energy and sustainability? At NGH we are committed to reducing the environmental impact of the hospital. This can be through, but is not limited to;
- the energy use in the buildings whilst maintaining, or preferably improving, patient comfort reducing the waste we produce and the water we use
- getting rid of unnecessary plastic
- reducing unnecessary travel
- looking at more sustainable food
- improving our outdoor spaces for patients, staff and wildlife.
