Chairman reappointed to Northampton General Hospital board
The NHS Trust Development Authority (NHS TDA) has today confirmed that Paul Farenden will serve a second term as chairman of Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust from 1 March 2016 until 28 February 2018.
Paul was originally appointed to the role of Chairman in March 2012.
Paul said: “I am delighted to be reappointed the Chairman of my local Trust and look forward to continuing to support the organisation in its aim to provide the best possible care for all our patients.
“We face significant challenges over the coming years, including strengthening our financial position without compromising the quality and safety of our care as well as working more closely with our partners to improve the overall health and care system in Northamptonshire.”
Paul has lived in Northamptonshire for more than 30 years and has over 40 years’ experience of working in the NHS. He was a Chief Executive for the last 20 years of his career which ended with retirement from the position of Chief Executive at The Dudley Group of Hospitals Foundation Trust in 2009 where he had been in post for eleven years.
Paul is a qualified accountant and has considerable experience in financial management, change management and leadership and has always been determined to ensure that the quality of patient care is the first priority. He has led large scale organisational change and his significant experience has provided him with in depth understanding of the NHS and the wider health care environment.
Non-executive appointments to NHS Trusts made by the NHS TDA are subject to the Code of Practice of the Commissioner for Public Appointments. Paul will receive a remuneration of £21,105 per year. Paul has declared no political interests or political activity.
