Survey on quality priorities for 2015/16

We want to make sure that the services we provide are of the best possible quality, and we would like to you to take part in a survey to tell us what you think.

To ensure that the services we deliver not only meet the needs of those we support, but are of the highest standards, we must continually measure, challenge and improve the quality of what we deliver.

We have started to develop a list of improvements to the quality of our services, and now we need your views on which we should prioritise for the coming year:

  • Development and roll out of a NGH leadership model - genuine leaders understand that they have a direct impact on the motivation and engagement of their staff
  • Reduction in Pressure Tissue Damage  - Pressure ulceration is a multifaceted problem that requires a systematic multi-disciplinary approach to care. Education of healthcare professionals is the central theme to any strategy for pressure ulceration prevention. Reducing pressure tissue damage will increase the quality of care we deliver as they cause pain and distress to patients.
  • Improvement of Discharge Processes - By reviewing and improving Ward based processes, including admission and discharge, Trusts can improve the patient experience by reducing the number of days spent in hospital, and save bed days thus increasing capacity and saving money 
  • VitalPac - VitalPac nurse has been rolled out across all adult inpatient beds allowing nurses to monitor patients for early signs of deterioration far more effectively than ever beforewhich nurses. The data provided by VitalPAC enables staff to know exactly which patients are where and how sick they are, helping predict demand, manage resources and enables staff to automatically summon timely and appropriate help. With VitalPac Dr doctors will be able to receive an automatic alert with a list of actions and they will be to see a range of indicators such as patients observations and the clinical pathway thereby reduce the time it takes to see patients and act accordingly.
  • Staff Engagement - Employee engagement is a workplace approach designed to ensure that employees are committed to their organisation’s goals and values, motivated to contribute to organisational success, and are able at the same time to enhance their own sense of well-being. Effective employee engagement will help staff to feel valued, supported and listened to, so they have the confidence, enthusiasm and resilience to provide the best possible care for patients and support the people they work with to do the same
  • Improve patient experience for patients with Dementia - By improving patient experience of people with dementia it will have a positive impact on their hospital stay ensuring they receive the best possible care
  • Learning from Complaints - Where things go wrong it is important we take the necessary steps to avoid reoccurrence and in the instance of a complaint takes steps to ensure it is investigated thoroughly with a response provided to the complainant and that any learning is shared
  • End of Life - Wards struggle to identify patients at the immediate end of life which if they could would enable the patient to be placed on the end of life register and receive better care
