NHS collaboration for nurse recruitment
Northamptonshire’s three leading NHS organisations have joined forces to attract more qualified nurses to the county.
Kettering General Hospital, Northampton General Hospital and Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) are jointly hosting a recruitment open day in London next week to showcase career opportunities for nurses and promote the county as a great place to live and work.
Kettering General Hospital’s director of nursing and quality Leanne Hackshall said: “Northamptonshire is a fantastic place to live and work and there are some excellent nursing opportunities in our local hospitals.
“Across the three Trusts we have some 3,500 full time nurses but each year clearly we need to replace staff due to retirement, or career moves, and also we need to recruit to newly developed roles designed to enhance patient care.
“As a result recruitment to nursing posts is always ongoing and it made a lot of sense for the three Trusts to us to get together to share recruitment ideas, costs and resources. For example we have made a recruitment film together that shows the enthusiasm of our staff and the excellent opportunities on offer.
“It also allows us to make the case for why nursing – and Northamptonshire - go together so well.”
Carolyn Fox, director of nursing, midwifery and patient services at Northampton General Hospital, said: “As the UK’s fasting-growing county, it’s a really exciting time to be part of the delivery of hospital and community health services in Northamptonshire.”
Julie Shepherd, director of nursing, allied health professionals and quality at NHFT, said: “There are lots of great opportunities to have a nursing career in Northamptonshire. I know that we and the other two local NHS providers are committed to ensuring that our nurses are given great opportunities for development and working with us to provide excellent care to our patient care. We are really looking forward to the day.”
