Dying Matters at NGH
“Before I die I would like to...”
That’s the sentence we’ll be asking our staff, visitors and patients to finish tomorrow to mark Dying Matters Week 2015. We’ll have a graffiti board in the Cyber Café on Hospital Street where you can tell us what you’d like to do before you die; there’ll be free organza bags with Forget-me-not seeds to sow in memory of a loved one; and we’ll be asking our staff to fill in a pledge card about how they can improve the quality of care of patients at the end of their life.
Dying Matters Awareness Week aims to get people talking about dying, death and bereavement and making plans for their end of life. This year the theme is Talk, Plan, Live which encourages people to:
- Write your will
- Record your funeral wishes
- Plan your future care and support
- Consider registering as an organ donor
- Tell your loved ones your wishes
Talking about dying may not be easy but it can help people make the most of life and support those they care about. For more information, visit the Dying Matters website.
