NGH launches Everyday Hero Awards
Say thank you to a member of TeamNGH who isn't a nurse or midwife
Do you want to say thank you to a member of TeamNGH who you think has gone above and beyond what might be expected of them?
Northampton General Hospital has launched a new award scheme for patients and their families as well as staff to thank a member of TeamNGH who made a real difference to either their care or gone above and beyond what might be expected of them in their usual role to support their colleagues.
Sally-Anne Watts, Associate Director of Communications, said: “We believe that everyone who works in a hospital makes a difference. The NGH Everyday Hero Award has been created to recognise execptional members of TeamNGH who have demonstrated compassionate care and thoughtfulness, which goes above and beyond the usual that would be expected of them in their role. Last year we were one of the first hospitals in the UK to introduce the DAISY Award which recognises and celebrates the skilful, compassionate care nurses and midwives provide every day.
“Our new Everyday Hero Award complements the DAISY Award by offering people an opportunity to say thank you to all the other members of TeamNGH who aren't nurses or midwives, but who all contribute to providing the best possible care, by sharing their story of how someone in either a clinical or non-clinical role made a difference they will never forget.”
Recipients of the Awards could be porters, office and admin staff, clerks, ward receptionists, healthcare assistants, radiologists, therapists, doctors or anaesthetists, radiologists, pharmacists, or members of our cleaning and catering teams to name but a few. The only criteria is that they should not be a nurse or midwife.
So, if you know of someone who has:
- Gone above and beyond what is expected of them in their role
- Shown a real commitment and passion for all they do
- Demonstrated they live our core values of:
- Putting patient safety above all else
- Respecting and supporting one another
- Aspiring to excellence
- Reflecting, learning and improving
