About the team
The child and Adolescent bereavement service is run by the service manager Beatrice Standen with a team of qualified counsellors and counselling students on placement.
We are also assisted by volunteer bereavement counsellors, who are trained in counselling, covering areas such as person centred counselling, psychodynamics and cognitive behaviours.
Services
Primary aged children: meeting with parents or carers to provide support and advice. School staff provided with training and resources to support the child in school.
Secondary aged children are assessed and if appropriate are offered 1-1 counselling in their school or at Childrens outpatient department at Northampton General Hospital.
Support and advice: can be provided by phone to parents and cares. If you require your child or adolescent to be assessed, contact their school or G.P to request a referral to the bereavement service.
We also offer support to families where a family member has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Support can be provided in a way that meets the individual needs and the family.
