How we make decisions

Decision making processes and records of decisions

The Trust is committed to high quality patient care and we are continually striving to improve our services.
A number of documents set the framework for how the trust makes decisions including:

  • The Constitution – sets out the Governance arrangements that the trust must work to

  • The Scheme of Delegation – This document sets out how the powers of the Board may be delegated to the Officers and Committees of the Trust. The Board remains accountable for all of its functions.

  • The Statement of Internal Control – is a statement made by the Chief Executive describing how NGH is going to manage risk to a reasonable level.

  • The Performance Management Framework – sets out the process and tools that the Trust will use to ensure that:
    • The organisation understands its aims for the coming year
    • Enables efficient and effective monitoring
    • Predicts and forecasts likely outturn enabling timely corrective action to be taken as necessary

Public Involvement and Consultation

Keeping in touch with local people and communities is important to NGH. We need to ensure that the views of the people who use the services of the Trust are taken into account.  Information on how we involve patients in our decision making is available on the Get Involved pages of our website.
