Budgets
The Director of Finance at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust (NGH) has corporate responsibly for the financial governance of the Trust and assurance and advice to the Board.
Financial Controls
The Trust Board receive regular reports on the financial position of the Trust.
The Standing Orders, Standing financial Instructions (SFIs) , Scheme of Delegation and Accounting procedures set out how we manage or financial responsibilities and our business. They are designed to ensure the trust financial transactions are carried out in accordance with best practice.
Annual Statement of Accounts
The Trust publishes its Annual Accounts. Financial information is also published in the Trust Annual Report.
The Charitable Funds Accounts include details of the trustees, fund objectives, Auditors report and statement of financial activities, balance sheet and notes to the accounts.
Budget and Variance Reports
The budget for each directorate is set on an annual basis. The Trust produces Directorate Budget reports on a monthly basis for distribution to budget holders. These are summarised for reporting to the trust Board.
Financial Audit Reports
The Trust is audited by the Audit Commission. The Audit Commission takes any Audit Reports to the Trust Audit Committee. Copies these Audit reports for the last 12 months are available on request from the Trust Freedom of Information Manager.
Standing Financial Instructions (SFIs)
The SFIs detail the financial responsibilities, policies and procedures to be adopted by the Trust and they are designed to ensure that all of the financial transactions undertaken are carried out in accordance with the law and government policy to achieve probity, accuracy and economy, efficiency and effectiveness. They should be used in conjunction with the Scheme of Delegation adopted by the Trust.
Capital Programme
The Capital Programme sets out the Trust’s investment priorities. The document shows the source of the capital and the capital allocation by category.

The NGH Charity fund has been set up to help improve the lives of patients, their families, visitors and staff at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust. Expenditure over £25,000
From 31 October 2010 we are required to publish information on payments made by the Trust over £25,000. In some cases the payments shown are less than £25,000. This is because we have either split the payment for accounting purposes or have reclaimed VAT and shown the net amount. This is in accordance with HM Treasury guidance.
