NGH becomes first UK hospital on international standards programme

Description
Northampton General Hospital has become the first NHS hospital in the UK to sign up to an internationally-recognised programme for nursing and midwifery standards. The Pathway to Excellence programme recognises hospitals for the quality of patient care and professional satisfaction of the nurses and midwives who work in them. The programme is delivered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

New role to support patients with secondary breast cancer

Northampton General Hospital now has a Macmillan clinical nurse specialist (CNS) available to every patient who has been diagnosed with, or who is suspected of having, secondary breast cancer - where the disease has spread to other organs, such as the liver, lungs, or bones.

Junior doctors' industrial action 9-11 March: information for patients

Description
ndustrial action by junior doctors will take place from 8am Wednesday 9 March until 8am Friday 11 March. During this time, junior doctors will provide cover for emergencies only. Patients who need emergency treatment will be seen and treated as quickly as possible. However, those in less urgent need of care may experience longer waiting times than normal. If you have a minor injury or illness, or you're not sure where to go for treatment, please call NHS111 for advice.
