NGH produces animation film to support patients leaving hospital
Northampton General Hospital has produced a short animation to help patients and their families understand the process of being discharged from hospital.
The hospital worked with Northampton-based media company Gnu Films to create the film which gives tips and advice about how to make getting home from hospital go as smoothly as possible.
Deborah Needham, chief operating officer and deputy chief executive, said: “Being admitted to hospital, especially in unexpected circumstances, can be a fraught time for patients and their families.
“We’ve made the film to explain the different factors that affect how we decide when a patient can be discharged. It also reminds patients and their families to take care of details like remembering where your front door keys are or making sure transport is arranged and there’s food at home.
“A well-planned discharge means patients are going home with all the right medication and advice, they are less likely to need to be readmitted to hospital and they can rest and recuperate in the comfort of their own home. “
