Hospital Procedure Preparation

Managing your anxiety, encouraging positive thinking and ways to develop your coping skills might have a positive effect on your experience and help aid recovery.

Important: Before you listen

You can listen to these sessions as often as you like.

You can listen at home, whilst at the hospital and during your recovery.

You could also listen during a hospital procedure with support from the staff.

Please do not listen whilst you are driving or doing anything else that requires your full attention. If you have a psychiatric diagnosis of schizophrenia or bipolar, please ask your psychiatrist before listening

Before or during any hospital visit – short hypnotic relaxation (female voice)

This short session lasts around 7 minutes and will guide you into relaxation focusing on breathing and helpful imagery.  It can be used in preparation for a hospital visit/procedure or can be listened to during your procedure with the support of the staff looking after you.

This longer session lasts around 17 minutes, expanding on the shorter session and is intended to help you to relax more deeply and prepare for hospital visit. It can also be used during a hospital procedure with the support of the staff looking after you.  It contains suggestions on how to view the hospital experience in a positive way.
