NGH wins national Health Technology Award!
Northampton General Hospital has fought off competition from hospitals in the country to win the Best Use of Data award at the Health Tech Awards 2019.
The winning submission was the result of a new system designed to help with the challenges of the patient journey throughout their time in hospital.
The online iBox system was developed to help to reduce the time people wait to be seen in the A&E department, helping patients to get home sooner and manage bed allocation in the hospital.
Chief Information Officer, Hugo Mathias, “NGH are delighted to have been recognised for the iBox solution. iBox and the IT team have worked closely with our clinical teams, listening carefully to requirements and shaping solutions that are suitable for staff who use the solution. This has enabled us to develop an excellent tool to help manage patient flow in real time. We are continuing to develop iBox in rapid change cycles to meet the organisations requirements and it is being very well received by both the clinical and nursing teams. This is an excellent example of working in partnership and behaving as one team.”
Information from a number of other clinical systems is combined to create a visible patient record
Lee Taylor, Deputy COO for Northampton General Hospital stated “iBox has enabled hospital wide visibility of Emergency Department activity and acuity enabling a much more responsive, nimble and dynamic trust wide approach to prevent unsafe crowding in the Emergency Department as we can easily see when tension and pressure is developing and mobilise staff to assist.”
