New Chief Digital Information Officer for provider collaborative
A new Chief Digital Information Officer has been appointed to provide world-class digital services across both University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group (UHN) and University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust (UHL). Group Chief Digital Information Officer, Will Monaghan, joins us in the summer and will work with both UHN and UHL CDIOs to transform care for the 2.2 million patients served by the Trusts through better use of digital, data and technology.
Will, who joins our collaborative from University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB) where he is Executive Chief Digital Information Officer, said:
“I am thrilled to be joining the teams at UHN and UHL. We have a real opportunity to make a difference at scale, building on our shared strengths. A key priority is ensuring our organisations are great places to work, which we know leads to improved care for patients. We will provide colleagues with the right digital tools and high-quality care to make informed decisions. It is also vital that technology works for the people using it, and I will lead our joint approach to ensuring users are at the heart of decision-making.”
Richard Mitchell, UHN and UHL Chief Executive, said: “I am delighted that Will has agreed to join us and lead on digital transformation for the partnership. We have big ambitions to harness the latest technological and digital advances for the benefit of patients. One of Will’s first areas of focus will be to develop a strategic plan for bringing industry-leading technologies into UHL and UHN. I am confident that his knowledge and experience will be a huge asset to our organisations.”
Prior to his role at UHDB, Will has formerly held roles at NHS England, where he worked as Transition Director and Director of Operations in NHS Transformation, and has more than 14 years of NHS experience across NHS England, NHSX and acute Trusts, including UHL. Will is also part of the faculty for the NHS Digital Academy as a Leading Digital Health Practitioner, where he lectures on a number of modules and provides curriculum advice.
